Richard Otevřel is Counsel at Havel & Partners. He specializes in IP and industrial property law, IT, personal data protection, and general issues of EU law and public regulation. Richard’s intellectual and industrial property rights practice focuses mainly on the protection of designs and trademarks, and technology transfers in science and research, including their commercialisation. Richard’s IT practice focuses primarily on the commercial aspects of license agreements and the implementation of contracts, and on public regulation in electronic communication services. At Havel & Partners, Richard co-leads a team providing comprehensive legal services on data and privacy protection.

Before joining Havel & Partners in 2005, and after serving in the Czech Army as a legal adviser to the Battalion Commander, Richard worked for three years in different positions at the Czech Ministry of Justice, including such as director of the International Department.
