Štěpán specialises in IT and telecommunications law, intellectual property law, data protection, contractual and private international law. Štěpán primarily focuses on legal aspects of the creation and use of copyrighted works, legal aspects of information system implementation and computer program licensing, topics on which he also regularly lectures and publishes.

In intellectual property law, Štěpán specialises in technology transfers, among other things, including transfers in science and research, and in trademark and design protection.

He has advised numerous private companies, including the largest banks, as well as public administration authorities on the implementation of key information systems. In addition, Štěpán has also advised the largest software companies on the resolution of complex IT disputes.

Štěpán advises in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic. Apart from being a member of the Slovak and Czech bar associations, he is also a member of the AIJA – International Association of Young Lawyers.

Besides graduating from the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno, he also graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administration at the same university. He has obtained international experience at John Marshall Law School, Chicago.
